A FESTIVE DAY IN SALAMANCA...

All dressed up and plenty of places to go...
Lots of people lined up to get married, partying, out enjoying the day... What a scene! It was a great day for me since I prefer shooting people and there was certainly an abundance of opportunities for that... all in the old city of Salamanca...

I couldn't help noticing all the sturdy legs...but, it makes a lot of sense. People here walk everywhere they go...

 Join the party...
Everybody's welcome,

OH, THOSE ROMANS!

About the same time Jesus was walking on earth, the Romans were busy building this impressive 20 mile aqueduct bridge into the town of Segovia in Spain. At it's highest point entering the city, it rises to nearly 100 feet with 44 double arches, all without mortar and still standing today!
Aside from the aqueduct / bridge, old town Segovia is really sweet featuring another impressive Cathedral and the Alcazar (castle)...

Oh, those Segovians...

HOP ON, HOP OFF...

If you want to feel like a bonafide tourist, just climb up on an open topped tour bus.  I'm almost embarrassed to admit most of my good shots of Madrid were taken perched atop one of these... https://www.facebook.com/tidballphoto But, if you want to get your bearings in a big city, it's not a bad way to go...

Who you lookin' at???

CORDOBA, ANDALUSIA...

The Roman bridge to Cordoba which was one of the most important capitals and influential cities in 11th century Europe. While Jews, Christians and Muslims lived together peacefully, significant scientists, artists and philosophers emerged from Cordoba.
If you ever get a chance to go there, choose Juan as your tour guide, a super knowledgeable fellow and a fine gentleman as well.

Here are a couple shots inside the original Mosque which was uniquely spared destruction when the conquering Christians decided to build their Cathedral right in the middle of the structure, featuring more than 850 pillars!

Ole again,
Tom

We attended the last home game for the Seville team. They won in a great match 4-3 against the Catalonians from Valencia...

Everyone went home happy, even some Huskers.
