Navam Perahera, celebrated every February in Colombo during the full moon... a sensual spectacle where musicians, drummers, dancers and elephants, mostly from villages throughout the country, collaborate in the city streets for a mega procession. Sriyani and I found ourselves mixing with the good natured country folk prepping for the big show. What struck me was the simple joy of the people to be in Colombo and a part of the shared event. As you can see, there is not a grumpy performer in the bunch, all more than willing to accommodate me by posing for a 'snap'. Street lamp lighting...You've gotta love it. Enjoy the show and these beautiful people!
