PROVOCATIVE...

...the new Lincoln Today Magazine!
Here is the cover of the 2016 edition of our 24th annual 'Lincoln Today' magazine. It is a composite shot of a closeup of the Sower who is poised atop the State Capitol building, sowing seed in the heartland...with the growth of good seed in the background.

And here is my mag ad once more shamelessly promoting myself...a nice design I must say, thanks again to Subha...and special appreciation for natural Sri Lankan beauty shared by Natasha, Peachy, Nadeeka and Bianca.

I'M JUST SAYIN... AS THE KC ROYALS TAKE THE CROWN!

The last shall be first...
As in sports, so in life...
It helps to know the game to understand what's really going on...
Layer upon layer...
In sports, people are always making life lesson analogies, but this time some things just can't be overlooked.
Against all odds, even baseball sages kept saying over and over, 'That's the way the game was meant to be played!' ...a true team.
The undeterred, unselfish, underrated Royals with no glaring superstars were impressively focused all year long. Consistently noted for unity, character and tenaciously picking each other up, it was their expressed love for each other and 'never give up attitude' that seemed to be their secret... rare commodities in today's money driven world.
The World Series MVP, a playful hearted man named Salvador, took a regular beating for the team. Steady Eddie took the mound in the last game with his heart turned to his father, and wouldn't you know, a boy named Christian delivered the final blow to seal the deal and deliver the crown back to the Royals.
Go figure...
It was a very good year...
Still room on the bandwagon...It's a beautiful thing,
Forever Royal,     :^)  Tom

ROCKY MOUNTAIN TRIPIN...

It's a real good walkabout...

when all living things attest to the glory of the One...

A stately messenger stopped by in the morning with timely confirmation, showing the way for the day... It's good when everything jives.

For me a good hike/climb is like a dance when the moves are flowing and the music keeps going...

On earth as it is in heaven...

WHAT'S ALL THE SHOUTIN' ABOUT?

Fortunate to have been at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City the other night to witness the Royals clinch the Central Division of the American League and secure a playoff berth!
Last year they were almost everyone's little darling...a Cinderella story...the Little Engine that could.
This year, they've been on a mission...with an attitude and a bit of new swagger. It's such a pleasure to watch gifted athletes having fun playing a kid's game as a well oiled team. Let's hope they can keep it rolling in the playoffs. If you don't have a favorite team, there's a little more room on the bandwagon...

The Cornhuskers are another story...a work in progress. With an unmatched loyal fan base, they continue to extend their NCAA consecutive home game sellout record. Perennially, there are high expectations in Huskerville. So far this year though, the boys have shown a lot of room for improvement with little to shout about.
Let's go Big Red...Let's get it together!

Tis the season...gotta love it.

KARMIC SOUP...

The spin we're in...

Having spent the weekend at the longest running annual Pow Wow (210 years) hosted at Macy, Nebraska by the Omaha Tribe, I was again impressed by the unity and camaraderie of these indigenous people, still holding on...keeping the fire of the Spirit burning. The physical beauty of the event is obviously attractive to a guy like me, but it's the drum and the singing that really carry you...

According to my understanding, one of the main reasons for the shameful state we're in these days is our unchecked national treatment of the people relegated to reservations. We've subjugated the designated caretakers of the land and dishonored those more in tune with the spiritual side and what makes for true peace and harmony. Surely, there are foundational disagreements about ownership, control, the value of things and the meaning of freedom. As truth is distorted and deception is embraced all around, the beat goes on...

Fellow photographer, Aaron Huey delivered a powerful Ted Talk nutshell history lesson of the situation in nearby Pine Ridge, home of the Lakota, advocating understanding and respect...addressing issues which need to be rectified for the benefit of us all... check it out  http://www.ted.com/talks/aaron_huey

A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME...

but, Prairie Home was in the house...
One of a kind humorous singer/storyteller, Garrison Keillor plays his tunes on familiar heartstrings Friday evening at the Pinewood Bowl...
For the famous Lake Wobegone radio crew, Lincoln was the most recent stop on their 30 city 'America the Beautiful' farewell tour...

Richly talented sound effects man, Fred Newman and keyboard specialist, Rich Dworsky were great...

My favorite part was angelic Sarah Jarosz singing Bob Dylan's 'Ring them Bells'...

These guys are wonders at the mic...
BTW, here's Sarah...

WHERE THE SEA MEETS THE SHORE

There's always something going on...
On my last day in Sri Lanka, Luke and I did a quick trip 'down south'... I wanted to bid farewell to the beach and try for a few new wave pix... A magical day!

70% sea water...
No wonder we gravitate to the ocean...

True Aloha...
