LET'S RIDE!!!

I had a chance to try out some new waterproof photo gear on these surfers in Sri Lanka. I was generally happy with the equipment, and I felt like a few of the shots I came up with were really pretty nifty. I'll let you be the judge...

The waves here are not huge as you can see, but the short board skills of some of the surfers are terrific... a swell community (pun intended) shows up from all around the world to practice their moves on these waves while enjoying exotic life in Sri Lanka... 

 I'm not shooting with a giant telephoto lens from the beach. I'm out there positioning myself, trying to choose the best surfers to shoot, making a few friends, watching the light, anticipating the next wave set, always checking my camera settings, hoping for the best...still it comes down to luck in the end...but, any day out in the ocean is a good day for me...

Well, think I'll try mounting my little camera on the front of my board and see what I come up with riding some of those big Mavericks north of Santa Cruz... If you don't hear from me again, you'll know I went down swinging...

IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE...

The awesome beauty of the heavens and the earth, the magnificence of the skies and the great power of the seas, all proclaim the glory of God and testify strongly against the idiots who would in upmost ignorance consider messing with the holy order of it all...

...the arrogance of little men, power usurpers and would be controllers pushing propagandas, dispensing death and disease and spewing their chemtrail filth in our skies! Shame on them! The One enthroned in heaven laughs... He knows their day is fast approaching...so hold on, you truth lovers...

Enough is enough...back to the beach, where the sea meets the shore, where timeless nature beckons and earthlings answer the call by sunning and swimming, surfing and fishing and generally playing like little kids...grounding their barefoot bodies in the sand, breathing ozonic sea breezes and relinquishing all self will to the overwhelming power of the waves... I love it!

OK, now I'm determined!

I'm gonna follow these surfer dudes out into the waves and see if I can come up with a few good shots.

Another Shout Out...

Subha and her team at Ruby Studio just released the first edition of 'TRIPIN-Sri Lanka', an annual publication revealing hidden treasures of the island and inspiring foreign and local travelers to explore the wonders of Sri Lanka. A copy of the book can be seen in all hotel rooms in Colombo and is available in bookstores and shops all around the country. Pretty cool!

THE DRILL TEAM...

While in the States, Luke found out about this young Sri Lankan rap group called 'The Drill Team'. A few weeks ago, he looked them up and discovered they live not far from where we stay over here...all near Malabe. They're a cool bunch, talented, humble and they like to sing about matters of the heart, social injustices and contemporary issues...So, Luke's been collaborating and working on a few projects with them, lately. Here is a link to 'Minisathkama', their new release. It's a deep song touching on effects of the tsunami, exploitation and taking care of aging parents, featuring Lion Born Lord and Mashi...

DO IT YOURSELF...

People say not to ask others to do something you wouldn't do yourself. This pic is a reminder to myself in 2013 to light a fire under my headshot business. 

If I can be shot by Tom (no problem as you can see from my last blog post) then, so can you... Please consider and keep that in mind.
Of course, you'll come out looking a lot better than this...guaranteed!
For now, have a wonderful Christmas, and we'll all be anticipating a great 2013 together.
