SINGING THE BLUES...

It's a matter of fact... Most popular American musical genres have their roots in the Blues. As roots are important, we remember and go that way sometimes...
Last weekend the Zoo Bar sponsored the 41st annual Zoofest on 14th between O and P streets in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was the biggest festival ever! Lots of fun was had by all. I toted my camera down to see what all the shouting was about and here's a little of what I came up with...
...good folks hanging out enjoying the tunes and each other
...and Blues Bands playing their hearts out
Carl Finch and the Brave Combo

Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers... Rod plays a mean blues harmonica while Miss Honey, his keyboard-playing wife, accompanies...

Henry Carvajal on lead guitar...

My favorite was Kelley Hunt who gets things all pumped up, pushing the limits with feeling and quality control to the end. She obviously loves to play and heartily loves the people along the way. It's a beautiful thing... Just remember, when she lets it fly, you better buckle up!

And here is John Jackson having the time of his life accompanying Kelley on lead guitar...

Headliner, Delbert McClinton is still going strong...
For whatever reason, Blues artists seem to genuinely love Lincoln and love playing at the Zoo Bar...seems they've got something to say and people around here know the language.

so, listen up...   :^) Tom
